Michelin Star Restaurants in Rías Baixas
The gastronomy of Galicia is famous throughout Spain. And there is no shortage of reasons for this.
Its main focus is on raw materials, bringing top quality products from the sea and the land to the table, turning each mouthful into a feast for the senses.
If we focus on the gastronomic offer of Rías Baixas and the province of Pontevedra, we can highlight its fish and seafood that combine perfectly with the wines that are produced in this area in the northwest of the peninsula. Furthermore, in the province of Pontevedra there are seven restaurants that were awarded Michelin Stars in 2021.
And with this letter of introduction, it is clear that Rías Baixas is a perfect autumn destination for foodies looking for a gastronomic and wine tourism getaway in Rías Baixas.
Here are some Michelin-starred restaurants that you should consider when planning your gastronomic getaway.
Culler de Pau, O Grove (Pontevedra)
This restaurant led by Chef Javier Olleros is the only restaurant in Galicia to have achieved not one but two Michelin Stars. And it is located just a few minutes away from our appartments complex.
Here the language of the territory is interpreted before the diner, in a unique space where natural light and wood are the main features of the decoration. They define their proposal as “ephemeral taste experiences that will remain in your memory” and are committed to local products with avant-garde elaborations. They have several tasting menu options starting at €95 with food and wine pairing. They also offer an à la carte restaurant option.
Yayo Daporta, Cambados
In Cambados, and also very close to our appartments in Rías Baixas, we find the gastronomic proposal of the Da Porta brothers.
The restaurant is housed in a historic building: a huge mansion used as a hospital in the 18th century. They define the basis of their cuisine as “good taste and common sense” combining authentic Galician cuisine with a touch of fusion.
They offer a tasting menu option at a price that makes it irresistible: 40 euros per diner.
Pepe Vieira – Camiño da Serpe.
This restaurant is conceived as a space with an avant-garde aesthetic. Located in the middle of the mountains and overlooking the Rías Baixas, the views from the large window of the dining room will not leave you indifferent.
Inside, the physical space of the kitchen and everything that comes out of it takes centre stage. Dishes committed to the land combined with care for the product, creativity and good work.
They have three tasting menu options with “A Santa Elección” being the cheapest (87€).
Casa Solla
Also located quite close (only 19 km away) is Casa Solla. A temple of Galician gastronomy. It is a traditional family restaurant that curiously was born as a picnic area owned by his grandparents. It was in 2003, under his leadership, when it was transformed to become one of the most famous restaurants in our area.
In their gastronomic proposal, fish and seafood take centre stage. Two tasting menus are available, Trasmallo being the most economical (consisting of 17 dishes and priced at 98€).
This offer is completed with three other restaurants located in our province. Silabario and Maruja Limón in Vigo and O Eirado in Pontevedra.
And although these last three are not in the surroundings of our appartments in Rías Baixas, we believe that visiting some of these proposals is well worth travelling a few kilometres.
Whatever your choice, we know that Rías Baixas will exceed your expectations and after your visit you will understand why it is one of the best gastronomic destinations on the peninsula.
